Maui Beach Wedding Locations
For your Maui Beach Wedding Ceremony location, I give you directions to 4 beaches in Makena to choose from. If you cannot make the choice in person, of if you arrive too short before the wedding date, then I will choose for you or you can choose from photos. I do like to give you a live choice. It must be a permitted beach that you pay a minimum of $30 for. I obtain this permit online and add it to the balance. The Maui wedding permit is dependent on number of guests.
All the beaches in Makena are special. They are not private. Please do not ask anyone to move so that you can have your wedding in their space. All beaches in Hawaii are public. This is why you have the option of private locations, costs 500 – 3500. Please ask me for more detail if this is your preference.
PO’OLEALENA BEACH
PO’OLEALENA BEACH just outside of Wailea is a huge expanse of beach so you can depend on this one for holiday or weekend space for your wedding. It does not have white sand as in Makena but a shallow shore break for reflection of that beautiful sunset shot.
PAIPU BEACH
PAIPU BEACH is just over the hill, walking path and oceanfront lava rock climbing, to what seems like a secluded beach. ONE OF THOSE YOU SHOULD SEE IN PERSON. You do not want to bring your grandmother over this path. Please.
MALUAKA BEACH
MALUAKA BEACH fronts the Makena Beach and Golf Resort. North end is closest to the old Makena Church. This is where you park and walk down to the beach access. There is a turn around for unloading here at the beach entrance. i.e.. cake table and the bride, elderly. It offers a beautiful view of Puu Olai ‘Red Hill’ dressed in green. Very large expanse of beach, when not underwater or exposed lava rock. The beach comes and goes with the swells. Nothing is guaranteed. South end, my favorite, is a park situated above the south end of Maluaka. Very pleasant with green pictures in the park and ocean access, a short walk below. Parking is a short walk down the cobblestone path made for beach goers and golfers.
MAKENA COVE AKA SECRET BEACH
Makena Cove is the one you see all over ‘Maui wedding locations’. This is the #1 choice of MOST couples but not all. You have to be willing to share the beach, it is small. For one wedding it is large. and beautiful. Palm trees, shore break in the coves, lava rock jetty, sand (unless the storm surge has taken it all away). It has it all and that is exactly why is is so popular. I give you the warning and then you decide, hopefully in person. I do give you the option of leaving to another beach choice #2 if it is too crowded or beach is gone, unless you have a large party and we might miss the light at sunset. It also has a very difficult access due to erosion and not meant for anyone with disability. You have to hang onto the tree to climb down the rocks. Street parking only, about 1/4 mile past State Park at Makena.
